PingPing / How-to guide

PingPing How-to Guide

Make the most of every bottle. Here is each feature, step by step — the same content as Me › How-to guide in the app.

1. Put products in your Cabinet

PingPing builds your morning and evening steps from the products in your Cabinet. Start by adding the ones you use.

  1. Open Cabinet and tap + in the top right.
  2. Snap the front: AI identifies it and fills in the ingredient list.
  3. You can also screenshot Taobao or JD orders to import several at once.
  4. If it still can't be recognized, type the name in yourself and snap the ingredient list again.
  5. Add the open date and price to get expiry reminders and cost per use.

Tip: Add a cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen to get your plan going.

2. Follow it daily and check in

Home shows today's morning and evening steps. Check each one off as you go.

  1. Switch between “Morning / Evening” on Home to see which products to use today and in what order.
  2. Tap the checks one by one, or just tap Mark all done.
  3. Long-press a step to change when you use it, skip it today, or swap it for something else today.
  4. Adjust today only changes this day. Your schedule stays the same after that.
  5. Too tired? Tap “Skip tonight” and it won't count as missed.

Tip: Up past midnight? No problem: by default, anything before 4 AM counts as the previous day. Change it in “Me › Skincare plan.”

3. Adjust schedule

PingPing automatically spaces out actives like retinoids and acids, or you can set it yourself.

  1. Tap “My schedule” at the top right of Home to see which days of the week each product is used.
  2. Tap a product to set it to mornings only, evenings only, or specific days.
  3. Start retinoids at level 1 (2 nights a week). If there's no stinging, step up in Me › Skincare plan.
  4. Messed it up? Tap “Reset all to PingPing's schedule”.

4. Write in skin diary

Spend 10 seconds a day rating your skin, and over time you'll spot patterns.

  1. On the Diary page, tap today's skin weather, five levels from rain to sunshine.
  2. Pick what's going on, where, and possible causes (late nights, period, lots of sun…).
  3. Take a photo, or do a 3D face scan with the TrueDepth camera for easy before & after comparisons.
  4. Once you've logged a few times, the overview will show how sleep, late nights, and dryness affect your skin.

Tip: Photos and 3D models stay on your phone and are never uploaded.

5. Weather care

Sunscreen and moisturizing reminders based on local UV and humidity.

  1. Tap the weather tag next to the date on Home.
  2. Choose “Use my approximate location,” or pick a city manually.
  3. See when UV peaks, how to care for your skin today, and the next few days.
  4. Heading out? Tap “Remind me to reapply sunscreen in 2 hours.”
  5. Turn on “Morning sunscreen reminder” in Me to get the day's UV index every morning.

6. Try a new product

Don't put a new product straight on your whole face — let PingPing walk you through a 12-week trial.

  1. Open the product details and tap “Just started? Track a trial”.
  2. Follow the prompts to patch test behind your ear or on your jawline for 2–3 days.
  3. We'll remind you to do a check-in review at weeks 2, 6, and 12, comparing diary scores from before and after you started.
  4. At the end, choose “Works for me, keep using” or “Not for me, stop using.”

Tip: Add only one new active product at a time so you can tell what works and what irritates.

7. Ingredient notes & preferences

Check products for fragrance, alcohol, and ingredients you want to avoid.

  1. The ingredient notes in product details list fragrance, essential oils, alcohol, may clog pores, and pregnancy cautions.
  2. Set ingredients you want or want to avoid in Me › Skincare plan › Ingredient preferences.
  3. We'll warn you when a new product contains ingredients you want to avoid.

8. Routine checkup

Rates your cabinet and skincare habits and tells you what could be better.

  1. Open “Routine checkup” from Me or the “…” at the top right of Cabinet.
  2. Start with “Needs attention”: missing basics, conflicting combos, and expired products.
  3. Tap the item with the product to edit it directly.

9. Challenges, badges & monthly cards

Make sticking with it a little more fun.

  1. Pick a challenge in Me › Achievements & challenges, like 21 days of morning sunscreen.
  2. Each challenge comes with skip passes, so missing a day or two is fine. Days off don't count as missed.
  3. Streaks, empties, and diary entries all unlock badges.
  4. At the start of each month, a recap card for last month is created. Share it or save it to Photos.

10. Widgets, Watch & Dynamic Island

Check in without opening the app.

  1. Long-press an empty spot on your Home Screen › + in the top-left › search “PingPing”, then add “Today's skincare” or “Weekly check-ins.”
  2. You can add widgets to the Lock Screen too, to see today's steps and the UV index.
  3. Tap the timer when you put on a mask — the countdown shows on the Dynamic Island.
  4. With the Apple Watch app installed, you can check off steps one by one on your watch.

11. Ask PingPing Advisor

Not sure if they can be used together or how? Ask the Advisor.

  1. Open Advisor and just type a question, like “Can I use retinoid with niacinamide?”
  2. The Advisor knows what's in your Cabinet and tailors answers to your products.
  3. Suggested actions (like switching time of day) can be applied with one tap.

Tip: Advisor answers are AI-generated general skincare info. If your skin stays red, swollen, or burning, please see a doctor.

12. Back up & switch phones

All your data lives on your phone — export a copy before switching phones.

  1. Go to Me › Privacy & data and tap Export all data.
  2. Use AirDrop or save to Files.
  3. Install PingPing on the new phone, tap “Restore from backup”, and pick this file.
